Swedish Family Medicine - Cherry Hill is an innovative hospital-based primary care center with the mission of providing quality care to indigent patients. It was first established in 1974, with a clientele consisting mostly of the urban poor of central Seattle. Now, the clinic serves patients from all over Seattle as well as from adjoining counties, but remains rooted in the Central District, Seattle’s diverse and historically Black neighborhood.
The Cherry Hill Clinic’s patient population is the most diverse of our training sites. There are more than 30 languages regularly spoken in our clinic, with the most common being Amharic, Spanish, Tigrinya, Oromo, Somali, Vietnamese, Tagalog, and Arabic. The English-speaking population we serve is also exceptionally diverse: about 30% of our patients self-identify as African American, 30% as white, and the remainder are divided among many different ethnicities. Cherry Hill Clinic is also the primary care home for the Washington Anti-Trafficking Response Network and YouthCare.
Cherry Hill Clinic is part of Swedish Health Services, the largest, most comprehensive healthcare system in the Pacific Northwest. As part of this larger healthcare organization, our indigent patients benefit from increased access to services, imaging, and specialists.
Cherry Hill Clinic accepts four residents in each year of training and serves as the clinic training site for the Rural Training Track interns.

As a resident-driven clinic, the Cherry Hill training site continually evolves to serve the needs of its patients and its surrounding community. Residents have been instrumental in introducing many new and exciting programs to clinic, resulting in learning experiences and leadership opportunities around practice management, quality improvement, and Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles.
